Until early sixties the state of Odisha was bereft of any worthwhile infrastructure base. The then Government led by legendary Chief Minister Mr. Biju Pattanaik was keen on improving on this aspect. In order to take up projects with accent on cost, quality and time and to build up a cadre of engineers specialized in sophisticated construction. Odisha Construction Corporation was launched as a public sector company on 22nd May 1962 which was a pioneering venture in the country at that time. The Corporation led a spurt in projects in sixties which includes large number of major power, irrigation, industrial, road and harbour projects.,
OCC Ltd, in more than six decades of its journey, has maintained its leadership in the construction industry by way of diversification and widening its technological base and has managed to increased its annual turnover from Rs.1.73 Crore to Rs.1000 Crore. In terms of involvement, it has been called upon to participate as the premier agency for construction in almost all major engineering ventures of the state like multipurpose river valley projects, thermal power stations, industrial projects, bridges, harbours, Roads,Buildings and railways.The OCCL has worked mostly in the underdeveloped and predominantly tribal districts of the state,With an integrated engineering group covering wide spectrum of construction activities and backed by in-house computer aided design and management ,modernized workshops and sophisticated construction equipment, OCC has been exploring new horizons in project consultancy and advanced construction technology. In its six decades of endeavour OCC has gained the expertise and know-how in planning, designing, and construction and taken up a variety of construction jobs both in Civil and Mechanical engineering on turnkey basis. The excellence in performance of OCC in construction industry has been well established in a number of critical projects.
